Tina

After suffering a brain injury as a young child, Tina lived most of her life with her mother. When her mom passed away, Tina tried living on her own for the first time, but struggled to pay bills on her fixed disability income. Unfortunately, she became homeless and ended up in an emergency shelter. Shortly after, Tina moved into Miriam’s House. Tina and her case manager worked to set  up a payee to help her manage her finances andimprove her credit rating by establishing payment plans for several of her debts. She was connected with counseling and support services to help her manage the day-to-day challenges of living with her brain injury, which impaired her impulse control and social skills. Her case manager helped her navigate the application process to get her identifications in order so she could then apply for housing. After just a couple of months at Miriam’s House, she was approved for an income-based apartment and is now secure in her own affordable home! Tina attends our Aftercare Support Group to stay in touch with her support system at Miriam’s House and to receive assistance with setting and achieving goals.
