Welcome New Board Members!
We are thrilled to welcome three exceptional individuals to our 2024 Miriam’s House Board of Directors—Rachel Dalton, Jeni Mays, & Dr. Christian Neal. Each brings with them a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to our mission of ending homelessness.
RACHEL DALTON
Rachel is a dedicated community advocate with a background in marketing and communications. Raised in Bedford County, she returned to Lynchburg after attending Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Rachel’s passion for serving the underserved has led her to actively participate in various non-profit organizations, including the Miller Home for Girls and the Lynchburg Humane Society. She is also involved in breast cancer advocacy and serves on the Pollack Advisory Committee for the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Rachel is excited to bring her fundraising expertise and passion for community advocacy to the board of Miriam’s House to ensure the resources and support to families in need.
JENI MAYS
Jeni is a devoted mother of three and a dedicated community volunteer with over a decade of experience. Her commitment to serving others has driven her to engage in various community initiatives, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills and a selfless spirit. Jeni’s previous board experience includes successful fundraising campaigns, reflecting her talent for securing crucial financial support for community projects.
With her empathetic nature and proven track record in fundraising, Jeni is eager to contribute her diverse experiences and dedication to community service to the objectives of Miriam’s House. Her enthusiasm for fostering connections and supporting others will be valuable assets to the board’s mission.
Dr. Christian neal
Dr. Neal is a psychiatrist with a strong commitment to service and community healthcare. A graduate of Meharry Medical College, he completed psychiatric training at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Neal has provided emergency psychiatric care and served as a volunteer psychiatrist for the Fralin Free Clinic in Roanoke. Currently, he serves as the director of Psychiatry at Johnson Health Center.
Dr. Neal’s passion for improving the lives of people experiencing homelessness aligns with Miriam’s House’s mission. His experience in psychiatric care and dedication to community service make him a valuable addition to the board, where he aims to contribute to the organization’s efforts to address homelessness and provide support to those in need.
