Key Member Spotlight: Megan Lawler
Last year, we formalized our group of incredible monthly givers and launched The Key! Megan became a monthly supporter of Miriam’s House in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. In this time of uncertainty, ongoing gifts have never been more critical. We reached out to Megan to learn more about her and her commitment to our work through her monthly donations.
Miriam’s HOUSE (MH): There are so many great nonprofits in the community. Tell us what made you choose to support Miriam’s House?
Megan: I have always wanted to encourage, empower, and equip women to be the best version of themselves so they can be the best friend, best daughter, best mother, best whatever they strive for. Miriam's House is the epitome of this vision and is changing women’s lives for the better, and I want to be a part of it.
MH: Why do you choose to give monthly?
Megan: It has always been a financial goal of mine to give back to my community. The thought that I could be buying someone's groceries or providing rent in a safe place is the best feeling. I also believe it's my duty to teach my children the importance of giving and what that looks like. Giving monthly is one small way I can help give back.
MH: Anything else you would like to share with the broader community to inspire them to join The Key?
Megan: I absolutely LOVE this community and the sisterhood of Miriam's House. During the time I have been a part of The Key, I have made many new friends and they are a wonderful support system. The knowledge that we are striving for the same end goal only brings us closer together and I can't wait to see all that Miriam's House will achieve this year!
When not helping to end homelessness in Lynchburg, Megan can be found enjoying the day with her family or at Reserve with friends for some "wine" down time!
Members of The Key, like Megan, have committed to financially supporting Miriam’s House through a donation amount of their choosing. This support ensures that hundreds of homeless families and individuals are given not only the physical key of a home but keys to independence, opportunity, and safety. This transformative group is empowering lives and unlocking homes and hopes for our most vulnerable neighbors, and we are so grateful.
