Board Member Spotlight: Mac Frankfort
Since 2016, Mac has been a dedicated member of our Board of Directors and for the past three years, has served as Treasurer. Mac and his wife, Linie, have called Lynchburg home for over 40 years and have been very involved in giving back to this community. We sat down with Mac to get to know a little bit about him and his service to Miriam’s House.
Miriam's House (MH): Mac, tell us a little bit about yourself!
Mac Frankfort (MF): I grew up in Franklin, VA, then moved with my family to Phoenix, AZ. After high school in Phoenix, I graduated from the University of Arizona and from UVA (where I met my wife, Linie). I’m newly retired after being the CFO at Wiley & Wilson for the last eighteen years.
MH: How have you volunteered in the Lynchburg community?
MF: Community service has been important to me since we settled in Lynchburg. I’m proud to have served for nine years on the Lynchburg City School Board, for six years on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army and currently on the Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation Board as well as on the Board at Miriam’s House. I’m also a Meals on Wheels volunteer and I serve on the Vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
MH: What brought you to Miriam's House and why did you decide to serve as a board member?
MF: My friend George Vermilya led me to Miriam’s House. I was interested in solutions to homelessness from my time at the Salvation Army and had heard such good things about Miriam’s House that I jumped at the chance to be a part of this great organization.
MH: What do you wish all of Lynchburg knew about Miram's House?
MF: I wish all of Lynchburg knew what a wonderful, dedicated and hardworking staff we have, and what great work we’re doing. If you support Miriam’s House, you can be sure that you’re making a difference in this community.
